Fired up!

Children's races and maypole dancing brought a carnival atmosphere to Ralph's Seat for the Bank Holiday barbeque on 5th May 2008.

After some anxious glances at the morning sky, the clouds rolled back for the village Bank Holiday barbeque. Around sixty people, from toddlers to octogenarians, enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the warm sunshine.

Robin and Jane Wilson were in pole position at the bar, whilst Roger Pinson and Chloe Watts were busy at the barbeque meeting the demand for Cooper's delicious sausages and burgers.

Meanwhile, Lesley Bennett and Veronica Brown kept everyone entertained with maypole dancing and children's games – and at least one egg found its way onto the barbeque after the egg-and-spoon race!

Behind the scenes, organiser Robin Wilson paid tribute to everyone who helped to make the event such a success. 'Michael Watts, John Bennett and Michael Jones were amongst the PCC team who helped with cutting the grass, putting up the tents and rigging the sound system,' he said.
